Diabetes and pancreatic cancer six-part online course
Diabetes is a known risk factor for developing pancreatic cancer and conversely pancreatic cancer can also lead to diabetes.
Our six-part diabetes and pancreatic cancer course provides an introduction to diabetes and pancreatic cancer, and in-depth information on its management. This course has been designed for healthcare professionals supporting and caring for people with pancreatic cancer. The course will provide you with the information you need to provide the best possible support to your patients.
The course is made up of six modules:
Part one
An introduction to pancreatic cancer and diabetes
Part two
Monitoring of glycaemic management
Part three
Pharmacological management of diabetes
Part four
Nutritional management of diabetes and pancreatic cancer
Part five
Hypoglycaemia, illness management and DKA
Part six
Diabetes across the pancreatic cancer pathway
The content of this course is based on current practice and research available.
Each course will take between 30 minutes to 2 hours to complete (dependent on the course and your existing knowledge).
You will receive a CPD certified course certificate upon completion of each part of the course.
Start with part one
Part one of the course ‘An introduction to pancreatic cancer and diabetes’ is mandatory. Once you have completed part one, you will then be able to take any or all of the other parts of the course, and in whatever order you like.
Who is this course for?
This course is aimed at all health professionals supporting and caring for people with diabetes and pancreatic cancer. As such, this means the audience for this course is broad.
The course aims to increase understanding of diabetes and pancreatic cancer where there is often intersection between job roles (such as HPB CNSs and DSNs). It aims to help you deliver your role in the best way possible.
There may be some areas of the course that feel very familiar to you, and other areas that feel new or less familiar. It is important we cover the full spectrum to ensure everyone finishes the course with a good understanding and knowledge of diabetes in pancreatic cancer.
Do you specialise in diabetes?
Each course provides information about diabetes and pancreatic cancer. If you have been working in diabetes for some time there may be areas that you know very well. We’d recommend taking the following courses:
- An introduction to pancreatic cancer and diabetes (mandatory)
- Nutritional management of diabetes in pancreatic cancer
- Diabetes across the pancreatic cancer pathway
You may find it useful / interesting to take the modules that you do know more about too.
