Capillary glucose targets
Glucose targets should be individualised. For most healthy independent individuals, aiming for capillary glucose levels of 3.9-9.0 mmol/L (before meals) as often as possible is advisable.
Most people with t3cDM will need to monitor their BG. There is currently no specific guidance for diabetes management and targets for people with t3cDM.
People with diabetes and pancreatic cancer will have glucose targets specific to them which will depend on many things. This includes their cancer and treatment, type of diabetes, their body weight, and how well they are. It may also change over time too.
Some treatments such as chemotherapy and steroids can increase BGs significantly. Therefore, they need to be carefully monitored while on these treatments.
